Evaluation for Hearing Aids

Completing a full hearing aid evaluation is the first step toward living a better life with hearing loss. At Beltone Sound, our hearing aid specialists will begin your evaluation by conducting a series of tests, depending on the nature of your hearing issues.

Additionally, we’ll ask you some questions to determine how your hearing problems are impacting your day-to-day life. You may have to answer some basic general health questions as part of this evaluation, so be sure you have all the pertinent information prior to arriving for your appointment. You can always contact our office in advance if you want to make sure you’re prepared.

Hearing Test Results

After we conduct your hearing tests, we will provide you with the results as soon as they are available. You’ll discuss these with a hearing aid specialist who can provide important context around the data we receive.

These results will form the basis of our care recommendation. They may indicate that you need hearing aids to improve your quality of life. Or, they may leave the door open to other treatment options. We’ll discuss all of your options with you so that we can make the best decision for your care together.

Hearing Aid Recommendation

If your hearing tests suggest that a hearing aid is necessary, we’ll make an initial recommendation based on factors like:

  • The type of hearing loss you’re experiencing
  • The severity of the hearing loss
  • Whether you also have concurring tinnitus
  • Your lifestyle
  • Your style preferences

Modern hearing aids are impressive technological devices. Many have built-in Bluetooth capabilities and can work with your cellphone and other devices so that you can use them in a similar way that you would use earbuds. There are also hearing aids with rechargeable batteries and other options that may be a fit for your circumstances.

Once you’ve decided on the type of hearing aid you’d like to use, our hearing aid specialists will order them and begin the fitting process. This may involve taking a custom mold of your ear to achieve a perfect fit.

You’ll then have a follow-up session in our offices, during which time the hearing aid will be customized to match your exact needs for comfort and performance. After this initial session, you can go out into the world with your hearing aid and report back to us. If additional adjustments are needed, we’ll be happy to make them for yo
